03-08-2011 - AES: Comments to Proposed FTR Changes Required by 03/22/2011

As published January 21, 2011 in the Federal Register, substantial changes are proposed with respect to the Foreign Trade Regulation regarding post-departure reporting. A summary of the changes was published on our web-site in the article titled FTR Proposed Export Changes dated January 26, 2011.

This is a reminder that the public comment period on the proposed changes is set to expire on March 22, 2011. We encourage exporters to comment as the vast majority of export transactions are not regulated and the proposed changes will have a negative impact on trade. One that may potentially result in penalties assessed against legitimate trade whereby the only real infraction is a few extra days in which to compile statistical trade data.
